Housing Problem Solving is a person-centered, housing-focused approach that helps individuals and families identify safe, practical solutions to housing crises before homelessness becomes prolonged. This webinar will introduce participants to HUD-aligned Housing Problem Solving strategies, including prevention, diversion, and rapid resolution techniques. Designed for front-line staff, case managers, housing navigators, and program leaders, the session will provide practical tools and techniques to help participants support households in identifying strengths, leveraging natural supports, and developing realistic pathways to stable housing.

Sharon Lapides, Community Housing Locator, Washtenaw Housing Alliance
Sharon is responsible for administering the Landlord Engagement and Outreach Services at the WHA. Before joining the WHA, Sharon served for 10 years as the Director of Housing Services at SOS Community Services where she oversaw emergency shelter, rapid rehousing, COVID Emergency Rental Assistance and other programs that assisted families experiencing homelessness. Prior to this, Sharon was the Founder and CEO of Community & Home Supports in Detroit where she oversaw staff of Housing Support Coordinators/Case Managers/Supervisors/Accounting Staff/Direct Care Worker. Sharon has a B.S. from Eastern Michigan University and an MSW from the University of Michigan. Sharon is a licensed Social Work in the State of Michigan.
