Learn from a nationwide leader in the best practices of street outreach.

1) Homelessness is not a personal failing
2) Street Outreach is about connection first- not check boxes and results first which means it can take many meetings to develop trust this means go to each meeting with no set goal, rather a sense of community
3) Take something people need when you go see them (socks, sunscreen etc)
4) Remember this is their house- even if it doesn’t look like a house
5) Meet people where they are (physically and emotionally). We still get COCs that think going to a library to meet with someone is Street Outreach
6) Expand on how devastating sweeps are and how to continue to build trust despite trust and help when they do happen (even if that is just active listening
7) Self care/emotional/physical safety of the outreach workers
