Description:
In this interactive training, participants will gain comprehensive knowledge about human trafficking. We will break down the legal definition of human trafficking, share examples of sex and labor trafficking, and discuss how trafficking can co-occur with other forms of trauma and violence. Common myths and misconceptions about trafficking will be addressed and reframed. Participants will explore the unique housing needs and barriers faced by survivors and learn strategies to promote safety, stability, and empowerment. Finally, participants will understand how they can improve their policies and procedures at their own organization and collaborate with other service systems in order to better serve survivors in their community.
1. Recognize and describe common myths and misconceptions associated with sex and labor trafficking.
2. Identify intersectional, trauma-informed and survivor-centered strategies for effective communication and trafficking survivors from diverse backgrounds.
3. Understand the importance of collaboration across systems and delivering comprehensive services for trafficking survivors.
