MCAH Letter to the Governor

Michigan Coalition Against Homelessness (MCAH), and the Rent is Too Damn High Coalition are collaborating in a critical “Housing Homestretch” legislative campaign.
As we approach the final month of the legislative session, we need to send a clear message to our leaders that action on key tenant protection and housing related legislation is needed to ensure housing access and rental protections for all.

Thanks to our collective advocacy, we’ve seen important wins for affordable housing and homeless services in Michigan over the past two years. We’ve relentlessly
advocated for Source of Income legislation, which passed the full House. The state budget included increases to fund housing development and supportive housing, and tenant unions have grown rapidly across the state.

However, the work isn’t over yet. The legislature has introduced over one hundred housing related bills this session, but has yet to pass any critical tenant protections that will change renters’
and unhoused folks’ lives for the better.   Please read our letter to Governor Whitmer on this important issue.
