A Word From our CEO, Eric Hufnagel

Dear Friends,

For more than three decades, the Michigan Coalition Against Homelessness has been a key resource in supporting the work to prevent and end homelessness in Michigan.

Our recently released 2023 Impact Report reflects on the hard work of our dedicated staff and volunteers throughout the past year. In looking back at 2023, there’s a lot for us to celebrate, yet still so much more we can accomplish.

We’re very pleased to share with you the highlights of MCAH’s journey through 2023, which ranges from advocacy to training and much in between. We were delighted to return to an in-person Homeless Advocacy Day – an impactful day that included featured event speaker Senator Sam Singh. We also conducted scores of online and in-person training events and continued to sponsor the statewide Homeless Awareness Month observance, just to name a few key activities.

As an organization, we are committed to upholding DEIB core values through an ongoing, strategic focus on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging. We intend to reflect this in every aspect of our work – both internal and external. This commitment culminated in the creation of a new staff position, Manager of Authentic Engagement, to help lead our work in expanding our partnerships and empowering people with lived experience of homelessness.

Thank you to our donors, board of directors, volunteers, and community partners for pursuing
lasting solutions to homelessness. We look forward to leading alongside you throughout 2024
in delivering on our collective mission to prevent and end homelessness in Michigan.
