Meet Grace Ronkaitis

1. Can you give me your job title and a description of the work you do?

After a long and varied career in community service and the private sector as an entrepreneur involved in education, legal consultation and business planning, 7-years ago I found my home at the Michigan Coalition Against Homelessness. As a System Administrator at MCAH I engage in database technical assistance, workflow process creation and training. I’m also heavily involved with the Supportive Services for Veteran Families program which attempts to reduce homelessness among our military veterans and their households.

2. How does your work help homeless people, or help more people become housed?

Although I don’t interact directly with persons that are experiencing homelessness, I help to empower frontline organizations and individuals that are doing the direct work needed to ensure that homeless experiences are rare, brief and one-time.

3. Is there one project or achievement with MCAH that you are particularly proud?

Even though the task of ending homelessness can seem daunting at times, I am proud of the fact that MCAH has effectively addressed housing issues through community involvement in comprehensive and coordinated care. I am extremely proud of all of the direct service workers that do the hard work on a daily basis.

4. Is there anything else you want to say or would want people to know?

I would like to thank everyone that is concerned with the issues facing those many families that remain unhoused. Your conscientious persistence has been making a difference in your communities and has had positive impacts on the lives of those persons which you help serve.
